Almost 50 years later, Will shared some of the changes he’s noticed. No longer a small town, Juneau is now a bustling government center with the U.S. Coast Guard and the University of Alaska SE. The wilderness still feels untouched and pristine. The Tongass National Forest and much of the land surrounding Juneau has been preserved. The whale population is strong – in fact, we just watched one swim past at the same time a bald eagle flew flew by on its way to a nest near the cabin we are staying in.
We’re admiring the solitude and incredible environment before the schedule picks up. Stay tuned for more updates from the road this week.
